Coffee ExchangeThe Coffee Exchange sells Fair Trade and Organic coffees, freshly roasted on the premises. They have the best coffee in the state of Rhode Island, hands down. Anyone who drinks the swill served up by Dunkin' Donuts and likes it, is sick in the head. The Coffee Exchange sells their coffee online at http://mailordercoffee.com. I usually go for their Coffee of the Day which is $1/lb and I rack up points on my Customer Card to get free drinks. Also, when you buy a pound of coffee in the store you get a free coffee. The Coffee Exchange is located on Wickden St. in Providence. Visit today! Manville Fire District Annual MeetingWe had our Annual Meeting of the Manville Fire District last night at the Fire Station. I was disappointed with the turn out. There were very few taxpayers at the meeting. Most of the audience were firefighters who also live and pay taxes in Manville. Even more disappointing was that our Moderator failed to attend the meeting, causing some pre-meeting floundering as we scrambled to find a new Moderator. The meeting was business as usual. The Treasurer, Ronald McKenna, commented on our auditor's report which for the first time accurately reported our activities under GASB as a governmental agency. Most importantly we raised the level of pay for our volunteers and maintained our equipment maintenance program without raising taxes. Our Treasurer continues to invest wisely and the subsequent interest offsets our expenses, to the tune of approximately $14,000 for fiscal year 2007-2008. In sum, I am proud serve a District such as this with an excellent Chief and volunteer staff. The Manville, RI taxpayers should recognize what an excellent job the firefighters of this district do and that their motivation is not monetary but service, something we should all consider.
Website.
Finally took some time and got the link from the thumbnails (on the right) to the Gallery working.
We'll add some new photos of Mia soon!
Husband Haikubattery drained Describing the vain struggle between a dying laptop battery and the unavoidable housework to be performed, a husband, all alone, is tormented by the fact that failing technology pushes him into dish-slavery.
Half year wrap up.So I have not put any time into the site at all because this is my time to plant and harvest. Gardening and the outdoors is one of my favorite things to do. As the Toro commercial says, "Love the Yard". I changed the theme back because my Mom likes this one better and I have to say I agree. The stark gray and white did not look appealing, perhaps a bit too stark. I started a new job at OSHEAN, http://www.oshean.org, as Systems Administrator. Great place to work and I feel like I am part of Rhode Island. The Manville Fire Department has almost completed renovations to the Station 1. I encourage all residents of Manville to stop on by the station for our Annual Meeting and stay for a tour of the station hosted by our very own Chief, Peter Adam. The Annual Meeting is Tuesday, September 9th at 7:00 PM. Mia has two teeth. I know a guy who has 9ft tall tomato plants. How does he get them so tall? Pig manure. I'm going to end this blog post as I appear to be starting a whole "stream of consciousness" style of writing. Maybe I will carve out some time to put the pictures up...but maybe I'll just spend time in the yard instead. Enjoy the Summer!
